Activity Resume/Brag Sheet:

  • Provide template, tips and samples that detail how to present information and what colleges are looking for in their applicants
  • Edit resume to provide maximum effectiveness

Setting Students Apart:

  • Provide resources (database with over 700 opportunities) with an exciting variety of summer programs where students can differentiate themselves (engineering, leadership, science, business, arts, language, etc.)
  • Initiate discussions about possible entrepreneurial activities
  • Serve as a resource for job-shadowing and internship opportunities
  • Help students identify an advocate in the admissions office and offer strategies to maximize their effectiveness
  • Provide guidance on extracurricular activity choices, leadership, internship and community service opportunities as well as “WOW” project ideas
  • Provide strategic tips on proper ways to demonstrate interest, as this can be a crucial component in the college admissions process

College Essays/Personal Statements and Application Review:

  • Brainstorm essay topics, develop ideas
  • Dissect and discuss intent of essay prompts
  • Critique essay brainstorming outlines and essays
  • Research all colleges and provide all college-specific prompts
  • Offer detailed suggestions for content, vocabulary and structure
  • Provide timeline and supporting materials to complete applications in advance of deadlines
  • Provide guidance for completing supplementary materials (art portfolios, athletic videos, etc.)
  • Review all applications online

 Letters of Recommendation/Interviews:

  • Help students determine:
    • who to ask
    • when to ask them
    • how to best approach them
    • what to provide recommenders so that the best possible letters are submitted
  • Interviews:
    • Provide relevant tips/handouts (sample questions, strategies, etc.) that boost confidence and improve technique
    • Offer mock interview session with valuable critique
