RISING JUNIORS

WED – JUNE 12: 10AM –3:30PM
Early bird price of $350, if registered by May 26th

WILL COVER:

  • Finding your College Fit – Assessments to identify college majors and potential careers
  • “Secrets” of the College Admissions Process
  • Tutorial on: How to Research a College – with virtual tours, videos, review sites, college guidebooks and data sites
  • Making the most of campus visits
  • Creating your resume or “Brag Sheet”

STUDENTS WILL LEAVE THE WORKSHOP WITH:

  • Initial college list – with schools that represent a good academic fit, good social fit and a good fit for the family financially
  • Completed analysis of one college, i.e., “College Fit Worksheet”
  • Templates for campus visits and a resume

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BRING:

  • Updated transcript (official or unofficial)
  • Resume (if you have one)
  • Testing stats for all SATs and ACTs taken, (dates of tests and individual section scores)
  • College Guidebook – Princeton Review Best 384 Colleges
  • Laptop, cord to plug in
  • User names/passwords for: Naviance (if your school offers it), PowerSchool, College Board (SAT) and ACT

THURS – JUNE 13: 10AM –3:30PM

  • Essay Tutorial – interactive exercises, review of sample college essay
  • Insights into what colleges are looking for in the college essay
  • Review of the Common Application prompts
  • Essay Brainstorming exercise (Values & Characteristics)
  • Filling out the Common Application

STUDENTS WILL LEAVE THE WORKSHOP WITH:

  • Identification of two essay prompts and likely topics
  • Completion of the Common Application

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BRING:
